How NairaFX Works

NairaFX is a non-custodial currency marketplace that helps members discover offers, agree clear settlement terms and keep the important parts of a trade in one protected record. This guide follows the complete journey—from creating an account to closing a trade or requesting a documented review.

The protected NairaFX journey
1Prepare→2Choose→3Reserve→4Settle→5Confirm

1. Create an account and prepare it for trading

Registration creates your member profile, but a usable marketplace account also needs accurate contact information and secure access. Use an email address and phone number you control, choose a strong unique password, and never share a login, one-time code or security PIN. If you sign in through an approved Google account, the email may be recorded as verified through that provider; other details can still require separate checks.

NairaFX uses verification in layers. Email and phone checks establish communication channels. Identity or government-document review helps connect the profile to a real person. A saved receiving account may be reviewed for its currency, ownership and payment route. Completing one layer does not automatically approve every other layer, and verification is not a guarantee that a counterparty will perform. It improves accountability and helps the platform apply appropriate controls.

2. Save the right receiving account

A receiving account is where the currency due to you will arrive. Save it before you need to trade, enter the account holder’s name accurately and select the actual currency and route. A Nigerian USD domiciliary account is different from a US bank account, Zelle profile or Cash App route even though each may involve dollars. The platform can filter incompatible accounts only when the saved details are correct.

Some account types need extra instructions. An international transfer may require a SWIFT/BIC, routing information, beneficiary address or intermediary-bank details. Those details should belong to the selected account and remain in the protected workflow. Never post full account numbers publicly in a marketplace listing. NairaFX displays only the information needed at the appropriate stage.

3. Understand marketplace listings

A listing is a member’s offer to buy or sell a particular foreign currency for naira. It shows the direction, currency, rate, available amount, minimum and maximum trade size, expected delivery time and supported routes. A Buy FX listing means its owner wants to receive foreign currency and provide naira. A Sell FX listing means its owner offers foreign currency and expects naira.

The FX delivery route and the naira payment method are separate. Local FX inflow or cash deposit normally points to an eligible Nigerian domiciliary account. An international transfer uses the saved international instructions. Other approved routes—such as Zelle, ACH, US wire, Wise, Cash App or Interac—must match a verified account configured for that provider. Read the entire listing; a familiar currency code alone does not tell you how settlement will occur.

4. Review the offer and the member before reserving

Compare complete offers rather than choosing the most attractive rate in isolation. Check whether your amount is within the listing limits, whether partial fills are permitted, whether you have the required account type and whether you can meet the delivery window. Independently calculate the naira settlement value by multiplying the foreign-currency amount by the listed rate.

Member indicators can include verification level, completed trades, rating, recent activity and subscription tier. They provide context, not certainty. Look for a route that fits your needs and a record you are comfortable with. If the details are unclear, do not reserve simply to hold the offer while negotiating a different arrangement. A reservation should reflect terms both parties can actually complete.

5. Reserve and use the protected Trade Room

Reserving creates a specific trade record and opens the Trade Room. The room identifies the parties, locked amount, agreed rate, settlement value and required route. It also shows which participant is expected to act first. Use this record as the source of truth throughout the transaction.

Keep relevant messages, receipts and delivery evidence inside the protected flow. A counterparty should not move payment instructions to WhatsApp, email or a telephone conversation. If legitimate instructions need correction, pause and use the platform process rather than accepting an unrecorded change. Never upload passwords, OTPs, PINs, full card details or banking login information as evidence.

6. Follow the recorded settlement order

NairaFX is non-custodial: it does not take possession of members’ exchanged funds. Participants send money or currency directly through the accounts and routes stated in the trade. For that reason, the order shown in the Trade Room matters. Do not send to a substituted beneficiary, split a payment unexpectedly or change the route because of an off-platform request.

A transfer reference or screenshot can document that an instruction was initiated, but it is not proof of cleared funds. Check the bank or provider account you control. Pending credits, reversible notifications and images supplied by another person are not sufficient confirmation. Only mark a step complete after verifying the relevant funds independently and ensuring the amount and sender context match the trade.

7. Complete the trade and build a useful record

Once the required funds have cleared and the protected steps are satisfied, confirm the appropriate action in the Trade Room. Completion closes the active transaction and contributes to marketplace history. Leave a fair review based on the actual trade, not on pressure, friendship or an unrelated disagreement. Accurate reviews help future members assess delivery and communication patterns.

Retain your own bank record in line with your legal and accounting obligations. NairaFX keeps the platform trail needed for operations and protected review, but it is not a substitute for your personal transaction records, tax advice or professional compliance requirements. If a confirmation was made in error, report it promptly instead of attempting to conceal or reverse it informally.

Practical example: buying USD into a domiciliary account

A member wants to buy USD 1,000 and is willing to receive either local FX inflow or cash deposit. The member selects Buy FX, USD, the local FX mode and the accepted local delivery methods, then chooses a verified Nigerian USD domiciliary account. The listing records the offered rate, trade limits and naira payment methods.

Another member reviews the listing and reserves USD 500. The Trade Room locks that amount and the applicable rate. Both parties follow the displayed order, use the selected accounts, and keep evidence in the room. The recipient checks the domiciliary account directly and confirms only after the USD is cleared. The parties then complete the remaining protected step and review the trade. If international transfer had been selected instead, the listing would require compatible SWIFT instructions rather than a local-only route.

8. Pause and report when something does not match

Use the concern or dispute process if payment instructions change, evidence appears suspicious, a participant misses a protected step, funds do not arrive as recorded, or there is a material disagreement about completion. Report early and state facts: the amount, time, action taken and the part of the Trade Room record that is disputed. Preserve genuine receipts and account evidence without exposing secret credentials.

NairaFX Operations can review the protected record and escalate relevant issues to Compliance or management. A review may ask for more evidence, direct a participant to complete a recorded step, restrict an account or reach another outcome permitted by platform rules. It does not automatically guarantee a refund. Continue using the Trade Room while a case is open and do not threaten, harass or arrange an undisclosed side settlement.

  • Stop before paying if the account, amount, rate or route differs.
  • Confirm cleared funds in your own account—not from a screenshot.
  • Keep evidence and communication in the protected workflow.
  • Use Report a Concern or the dispute route promptly.
  • Never reveal passwords, OTPs, PINs or banking login details.

Frequently asked questions

Does NairaFX hold or escrow the money?

No. NairaFX is non-custodial. Members settle through their selected accounts while the platform provides the listing, Trade Room record and protected review workflow.

What happens when I reserve a listing?

A reservation creates a trade record for the chosen amount and terms, reduces the listing’s available amount where applicable, and opens the protected Trade Room for the participants.

Can I change the account or rate through WhatsApp after reserving?

No. Do not rely on off-platform changes. Pause and use the Trade Room or support process so any legitimate correction is recorded and reviewable.

When should I confirm that funds were received?

Confirm only after checking the bank or provider account you control and verifying that the correct amount has cleared. A screenshot or payment promise is not enough.

Does a verified badge make a trade risk-free?

No. Verification improves accountability but does not guarantee performance. Review the complete listing, member indicators, compatible route and Trade Room instructions for every trade.
