How Locked Trade Rooms Work on NairaFX

The Trade Room turns a marketplace reservation into a controlled transaction record. “Locked” refers to the protected core terms and staged workflow—not to NairaFX taking custody of members’ money.

From listing to transaction

When a valid reservation is created, the system records the listing, participants, foreign-currency amount, agreed rate and settlement value. This prevents either party from quietly changing the essential deal while performance is underway.

The listing may continue changing for future users, but the Trade Room remains the reference for the reserved transaction.

A stage-based settlement sequence

The room shows the current stage and which party must act. Depending on the protected route and participant eligibility, FX or naira may be due first. Follow the sequence displayed for that deal rather than assuming every trade behaves the same way.

Buttons such as upload evidence, confirm cleared credit, deliver FX and complete should appear only when relevant. A status click is a formal record, not a casual progress message.

Protected instructions and communication

Account instructions are revealed at the appropriate stage and should match the selected verified account. Keep questions, explanations and documents in the room so both parties share one attributable history.

An off-platform message cannot safely replace a protected account or payment order. Report a conflict instead of following the new instruction.

Why the record matters

Timestamps, confirmations, receipts and messages help Operations understand what occurred if settlement stalls. The room does not guarantee recovery or eliminate financial risk, but it gives review a better evidential foundation than scattered private chats.

After completion, the record supports trade history and reputation. Honest status reporting is therefore essential for the current deal and future marketplace trust.

The Trade Room lifecycle

Reservation→Locked terms→First settlement leg→Cleared-credit confirmation→Second leg→Completion

The exact labels and payment order can differ by trade. The displayed stage is the authority for that transaction. “Locked” means that the core commercial terms and participants are preserved for the reservation; it does not mean NairaFX has taken custody of either member’s money.

What is normally locked

The record connects the listing, buyer, seller, foreign-currency amount, agreed rate, Naira settlement amount and selected routes. It also preserves relevant confirmations, timestamps, messages and uploaded evidence. Future marketplace changes do not rewrite the reserved transaction.

Worked seller-first example

An established buyer reserves $400 from a provisional seller. The protected decision sets the seller-first order. The seller sees the verified FX receiving instruction appropriate for the trade and delivers the foreign currency. The buyer checks the actual account, confirms cleared FX, and then follows the displayed Naira-payment stage. Each party uploads the relevant evidence and confirms only what they personally verified.

If the account details are missing, the route conflicts with the listing, or the stage asks the wrong party to act, neither member should improvise. Stop and contact support from the protected transaction.

What each participant should do

  1. Read the locked summary and confirm the arithmetic.
  2. Check your role and the displayed payment order.
  3. Use only the account instruction revealed for that stage.
  4. Keep material questions and answers in the Trade Room.
  5. Upload genuine evidence without exposing security credentials.
  6. Confirm cleared credit independently before advancing.
  7. Use the dispute or concern control when facts cannot be reconciled.

Why status accuracy matters

A button such as “payment sent,” “cleared FX confirmed” or “delivery confirmed” becomes part of the audit trail. It should describe an event that occurred, not an intention or courtesy update. False confirmations can confuse the counterparty, weaken a later review and damage marketplace trust.

What the Trade Room protects—and what it cannot guarantee

The room protects record integrity, controlled disclosure and stage sequencing. It can give Operations a coherent timeline. It cannot make an external bank process instantly, guarantee that a counterparty never misbehaves, or recover money sent outside the recorded instructions. Members must still verify accounts and funds.

After completion

Completed records support trade history, reputation and integrity review. They should remain auditable even if an account or client relationship later changes. Report a concern promptly if evidence emerges after completion rather than trying to rewrite the historical record.

Handling exceptions without breaking the record

External banks can delay payments, reject account details or post a different amount after charges. The protected response is to describe the exception in the Trade Room, attach the permitted evidence and wait for the next authorised action. Do not mark a stage complete merely to reveal the next screen.

If a member made a genuine mistake, correction still needs a traceable path. Support may require a bank trace, corrected account verification, refund evidence or a formal dispute. An informal agreement in a private chat cannot safely replace those records.

Counterparty communication example

A useful message is factual: “The expected USD credit is not visible in the verified account as of 14:20. The bank reference supplied is ABC123. I have not confirmed cleared FX and will update this room after the bank responds.” This identifies the event, time and next action without accusation.

When not to complete the trade

Do not complete while a required receipt is missing, a credit remains pending, an account mismatch is unresolved, or either party contests the amount. Completion should reflect settled obligations. If the interface appears inconsistent with the actual stage, capture the display and request support rather than forcing another action.
